Extraction Process
Two passes, because the compounds people care about do not all dissolve in the same thing.
The first pass is hot water. Water pulls out the compounds that dissolve in it, beta-glucans among them.
The second pass is organic alcohol, which picks up a different group that water leaves behind. Running only one pass means leaving half the mushroom in the discard pile.
The two extracts are then combined and concentrated under vacuum at low temperature, which takes the water out without cooking what we just spent two passes collecting.
A ratio of 8:1 means it took 8 kg of mushroom to make 1 kg of extract. The higher the first number, the more concentrated the extract.
Water pass, alcohol pass, then low-temperature concentration. Each product page lists its own ratio.
